So, today was the 1st day since Yule warm enough to sit on the porch and try my new pipe(Savinelli Churchwarden) and Tobacco(Capstan Blue, supposedly the blend that JRR Tolkien smoked). Well, unsurprisingly, I don't like my tobacco like my coffee..."black";>
It was better than black coffee though. I did, however get my 1st "buzz" from it so I understand the whole "pipedream" bit;>.
Thankfully, I'd ordered another blend, an Aromatic that one reviewer considered the most dessert-like German Chocolatey blend he ever tried....which sounds good to me!

Heh. You are not yet a true dévoté of the tobacco cult :-) I must admit I like my coffee black and strong, but I used to drink it with a large amount of sugar. However, Tolkien had some demonstrably questionable tastes. He was a Xian, after all.

Never developed a taste for black coffee in 45 yrs so I doubt I'll be one of those guys on youtube pontificating about "notes of ____";>. I shouldn't be surprised by the English tobacco taste considering how unpleasant their food can be......
Oh well, now I can try the other 'Molto Dolce'. The smokable cake;>!
Sounds like things are improving. Oh, for the days when our bodies bounced back so quickly!

I'm terrified I'm mucking it up ... and I hate sitting around and being careful more every day. I guess both could be taken as signs of improvement ...

There's British food and there's British food. My mother was one of the worst cooks to have ever existed. And some things are just stupid, like cutting the beef against the grain and not tenderising it, so I was never able to chew it and now I hate beef with a fiery passion; and like the homegrown burger joint, Wimpy's, whose food was such offal, my entire generation ate fiery Indian food as takeaway, and the next generation ate halal kebabs. But the full English breakfast is wonderful (although everyone has one part of it they don't like, in my case the baked beans). And Yorkshire pud is lovely, and should be served in advance of the damned beef, so I could simply stop eating after that. Toad in the hole isn't bad if the sausages are pork, spotted dick is a great dessert with a side order of épater les bourgeois, Branston pickle, Marmite, and minced pies with real mincemeat, jaffa cakes, Bourbons ... there are a lot of things I miss. With the primary exception of the bread, I much prefer English cooking to French cuisine.
