Dbl-Bladed Beliefs.....

mdehnersBoth Pagans and Heathens have many things in common. Two are Core Beleifs that are both Wealful AND Woeful. They INDIVIDUALITY and SUPERIORITY. Individiduality give us the Strength to throw off our childhood programming. It also makes us unwilling to work together unless either forced OR has little cost in time, effort and resources. Superiority? We ALL KNOW our Ways are better than others and we ourselves are better than most around us.
Heathens generally do so through Bragging, Pagans through Patronising. The effect is the same, proclaiming that WE'RE Better than _____. Combine these two Core Beleifs and you have the reasons our gatherings together last so short a time. It's hardly surprising that pretty much everyone in both religions sees themselves as some form of Noble:>.
The thing is, we AREN'T. We are Smarter and have a stronger Self-image than the population in general be we aren't ALL THAT and we all need to get a GRIP. If OUtsiders don't think much of your art, chances are that you may not be an Artist, simply someone with artistic tendencies. If they feel the same way about your crafts, you're probably NOT a Craftsmen. Writer,Scholar, etc. You're above average but you ain't all that special and need to GET A GRIP.
The God/desses Love Thier Followers...PERIOD. My PERSONAL UPG is that they are Happier with us when we are Honest about ourselves than when we are fluffing ourselves up. "But Bragging is a Heathen Virtue!?!?!". Yes, it is....about ACOMPLISHMENTS. Read the Lore. See what the Ancestors were Bragging about. If your Deeds are an 1/8th...BRAG. If it's something the vast majority of folks on the planet can do with a little focus.....DON'T.
The planet has an Abundance of folks who think pretty much having a Daily Dump makes them "Special". It doesn't. It makes them Regular;>.....
