I Remember how Pissed I was when the Exxon Valdez happened and I no longer lived in Alaska at the time. Here I amm where SE winds bring the smell of the Spill and I just can't get worked up about it.
Part, of course is Age;>. I think a bigger part is the Irony. I live in an area of Tea-Party Birther Anarcho-Libertarians who not only pushed for the Drilling ("Deeper and Harder, just like you would your WOman" as one bumpersticker put it)but considers ANY regulations as "Hippy Crap". Well, locally comercial fisherfolk have been driven out because their products offend the Richers in their gated Gulf-side communities. There are pleasure boaters and those that take Richers on Fishing Trips(who else can afford a grand each for a daytrip?) The public beaches are nearly a half hr drive away(the actual beach is 7 minutes but not open to the Peasantry). Other than the smell, it won't afffect me. Heck, our "local" seafood is imported form Thailand!
A large part of me feels that it's, to use a familiar term, "Karma". These fukkers didn't give a shit about anyone but themselves, not even their kid's futures.Big Gov't debts, sure. That the only food little Billy's kids will have available is Pigeon and rat? Not Interested. After all, bidness will save us! After all, Soylent Green was a commercial product;>....
Cheers,
Pat
