Death of a Library....
Aug. 5th, 2010 01:42 pmSad thing. It took The Downturn to do what deaceds of WIngnuts and Book-burners couldn't....gut our library. To cut costs they fired actual Librarians and fired sycopants of the city council, all "Birthers". Needless to say, old books are missing and the few new ones are...shall we say "Christocentric". The only Sci-Fi book recently added was some bit of dreck about a girl in 2050 who God tells to bring Christianity back to the USA. Like that future, no matter how lovely could ever happen.
And they wonder why attendance is down.....

Date: 2010-08-05 07:16 pm (UTC)Do you still have interlibrary loan access? We have only Link Plus, and I suspect that's increasingly common; I'm limited to what an eccentric group of libraries (a lot local, one or two Midwest; some second-tier colleges) have and will lend. But if you still have access, use it while you can . . . for one thing it will leave a trail of demand for other stuff.
