No Right Action Goes Unpunished!

mdehnersI received another threatening phone call today. Nothing unusual, I get them a couple times a week...from creditors. You see, like I did with working until I couldn’t work anymore (something which ended up having negative ramifications that I won’t get into at the moment< G >) I continued to pay my creditors after I was Disabled, because I felt it was Right to do so as long as I could...
When we moved back to the Florida Panhandle after my Dad’s Stroke ( And just before Mom’s Heart Attack!) I lost my Medicaid. While I was qualified in California my SSDI was “too high” for Florida. I NOW had to cover that which HAD been covered by Medicaid. Unfortunately, because I HAD paid AFTER I became Disabled, as far as the creditors care nothing has changed. I did what Legal Aid told me to do and they said that while they can Harrass you, they can’t DO anything to you (not that I HAVE anything of my own except some books and plants…we couldn’t afford to rent a truck and had to abandon pretty much everything two Middle aged Men had gathered in their Lifetimes...). Even though I’ve been reassured repeatedly, my normal “If anything can...” Personality worries itself…which is something PWA’s are supposed to avoid...
So far, my two fav threats have been:
“Sell your aids and pain meds to pay us back” Credit Card Company
“If you Die before paying us back, you’ll Go To Hell” Department Store
Unfortunately, like many things, you can’t go back and “fix it”…you just have to “Deal”. Some days, “Dealing” with ANYTHING, let alone EVERYTHING can be a bit much...
