Voting in a mine-field...

It's One Of Those Times again...Election Day. Such an awkward experience for Socially Progressive folks here in the "Dangly Bits" under the "Bible Belt". A few Democrats (90% of the races in my area have NO Demos running for the offices...)a few Libertarians that make our local Far R-Republicans look like Ted Kennedy and the usual stock R-Republicans. You spend weeks with a sample ballot watching the adverts basically "scratching off" candidates with the most egregious stances. You know you're old when your aids clinic counselor is too young to remember the stances of long-term politicians and tells you, "that can't be right.." when you mention legislation they supported 10, even 20 yrs ago. Of course, a lot of folks can't remember what happened AT ALL that their Officials did in the present yr...so I shouldn't be surprised< G >...
Only two candidates were "no-brainers" because their opponents would make Pat Buchanan look like Phil Donahue. The rest are like trying to walk through a mine-field (or maybe a dog park< G >)...you just hope you make it through relatively undamaged...
