Lack of Support in Heathenry....

mdehnersOne area that I find extremely Lacking in all the orgs and Branches of Heathenry I've run into is support for the SOlitary. Not everyone lives in an area that's Heathen-Friendly, let alone Heathen-Fruitful. In fact,those who don't live around other Heathens or those that aren't compatible with their World-views are often treated like dirt. Folks with families/family obligations(something you'd think Heathens would be Supportive of...), jobs, properties don't have the options that those without those OR either have skills widely available(or none and so can go anywhere and Work in the Unskilled pool...)do.
There is, of course,The Ideal.The Problem is that if you don't get enough Heathens PERIOD, you'll never reach that "Tipping Point" to allow the Ideal to Manifest. Tribes, Clans, Peoples require INDIVIDUALS. Even the most Vanic of families can't Breed that fast;>!
The sadly funny thing is, Heathen Blots are easier for an Individual to do than the basic Wiccan/Pagan one, yet which Way is Growing Faster? Yes, there's the Quality vs Quantity arguement but since I've YET to run into a kindred as Discriminating as a Traditional WIccan COven, that holds no water.
I'm not Calling for a "Pop"-Heathen movement, full of 1/2-Astral Crap and stocked in the newage stacks. However,how does someone Feeling the Call of their ANcestors Feel when, after Navigating around the Pop-untruth of "The Old Religion", opens a book on Heathenry and finds that unless they live in a few lucky places,they are to be 2nd Class Citizens? That unless they give up their families and lives and move to areas more Heathen-dense they will be looked down upon? The Saddest thing is that there is more Effort by some kindreds and orgs to Prison Outreach than to Support(or at least Benign Indifference)the Solitary Heathen who is a Model Citizen....
