Hard Work is it's Own Reward Because....
Aug. 31st, 2006 09:39 amUnfortunately, due to Chuck’s Head Injury, he is Unable to Understand a main Tenet of Civilization: that the better you are at your job, the more Work you will be given, Usually without Recompenses. That Work Usually is that which is NOT DONE by One’s Lazier Co-workers...
No Good Deed or Work goes Unpunished. The Choice is whether you Accept doing a Good Job for it’s Own Sake, even if you will be “Punished” for it. Me? I just Feel “Weird” not doing a Good Job. That said, if I’m constantly “dumped on” for doing it I may not do my Best. This is a little too Cerebral for a lot of folks who don’t have Head Injuries. For someone with;>?
Though he has Seniority, he’s been given lousy Hrs. Since I Like his Supervisor, I’m trying to “Spin” it as them giving him those hrs because they need someone they can count on. He, however, is seeing it as another example of “The Penis-Bearer’s Burden”. Any guy who Works in a field Dominated by Women Knows this quite well. There is also a subdivision of it called “The Gay Man’s Burden” which is additional shit given on top. My Personal fav was having hrs cut from my shift to be given to Married women, though their husbands made as much(or Usually much more than…) as they. I’m the sole support, they live well on two Incomes. One that made me Quit personally was having this repeatedly done to me for a co-worker who ADMITTED that her Income was exclusively their family’s Entertainment fund. Knowing that you’re buying Top Ramen so ____ and her husband can go to Cancun is a bit much to swallow…even if I like noodles;>...
I guess the hardest thing for him to swallow is that he’s being forced to do one new hire’s work every day while she is allowed to leave for “1/2 hr”(like that’s ever been just that…) to take her kids from Daycare to the Babysitter. The problem is that she doesn’t Work days. She just sends her kids to Daycare so she can have the day free(for what?). Unfortunately, no one’s Un-PC enough to point out (other than me;>)that if she just took care of her kids herself instead of having “Me-Time”(something my mom would have LOVED to have had I’m sure!!!!), she would be dropping the kids off at the Babysitter on the WAY to Work, not leaving for sometimes more than an hr, expecting everyone else to pick up the slack…
Using your kids as Excuses for Laziness is Wrong, esp. when you are a Single Mother.
