"Spaghetti Against the Wall"
May. 30th, 2007 11:29 amIt’s been fun, but I have to scream now;>. With the assist of my clinic’s MHW, we’re trying to get Chuck some Assistance. Of course, since he was too Proud to take it after he was Injured, he’s produced “Precedence” that he can get by without it. We now have to Prove that what a Baseball bat to the head didn’t end, Age and Poor Healthcare HAS.
For him to get Medical, he has to Apply but he needs an MD to do the Paperwork…which is why he’s Applying. He can’t Afford one, even a “Doc In The Box”. My MHW reminded me that I had to do an “End Run” to get mine so why should Chuck be any different?
1st in an aids test. The sad thing is that if he seroconverted, he’d be Eligible through Public Health. Since we’ve NEVER Practiced Unsafe Sex AND He’s never been + before, he’s probably still.
2nd is through Mental Health. As she put it, with all the stuff that Chuck has to deal with, PLUS being Unemployed, he’d be Crazy if he didn’t have some form of Depression;>! She did a bunch of tests for us and we have an appt Friday for Intake. Personally, if they can Help him with his Phobia about Thunderstorms I’d be Eternally Grateful! But with him in, he is Eligible for a Social Worker (something I’m not. Folks with Mental or Drug Problems are, aids patients aren’t…) who can do all his Disability paperwork for him.
Meanwhile, Job-hunting continues. Hopefully the comps are up at Publix and Demon-Mart today so he can put in for something. We need it. While I admit to being a Wizard in the budgeting dept(sans Rent and Utilities, two men and a dog live on 150.00 mo and that Includes Gas….)it does get Old. Also, the natural dips in Garden production at times makes some meals “lacking”. I no longer talk to clinic or aids assist folks about the subject anymore since they keep trying to push us into Public Housing(while at the same time telling us that being both Male and Gay we would be at the bottom of the Housing Priority list, so why do they do it?). Besides, the family wouldn’t Allow it. They would “help” but then we’d be Beholding to them and considering the last time we had to listen to the “suggestions” of how we should have spent it(I “Foolishly” spent it on bills and fixing a few things around the house. Apparently, we were not to do this until “we could Afford it”. Of course, if we’d been Renting from others not related they’d have been Liable to do so…). Better not to unless we’re down to “Save The Children” size….
Troth,
Pat
