The "Clue" Age...

mdehnersI don’t Understand it. Christianity, I can. I don’t Agree with it but I can Understand it. After all, if you render it down to it’s basic components, Christianity is a way that folks Believe they can get around the TANFL Law of the Multiverse…There Ain’t No Free Lunch. You get something for not Working for it. Now, the New Age…
To me there are two “branches” of the Newage Movement. The “Low”, which is basically what most Heathens, Pagans and Wiccans would recognize, just changed to avoid using terms like “gods”;>. Then there is the “High” which is basically Spiritually dressed up Physics, Physics that is usually out of date. During our family dinner last night my SIL brought over the newest of the “High”. Sadly, I recognized it…from 1982! Same photos, same order. I mean, I’m not a Theoretical Physicist, but I can use Clip-Art or Public Domain pics!
Part of the Magpie Impulse is that you never pay attention to whether the “New” is the Same”, just with a different cover. It also prevents you from Paying Attention. If you had a Science background, heck even if you caught an occasional Discovery Channel show, you’d Know there was nothing there in the vast majority of the stuff. Luckly for them, all those Middle-class Housefraus don’t. A Scientist that can’t use basic computer programs or Elderly Peaceniks claiming to be Templar Knights(not in a Past Life but Present Life Initiates)or Viking Berserkers should give one at least a ???? Impulse….but they don’t.
Another thing I’ve noticed about High Newage material is that it never DOES ANYTHING REAL. There’s something Inherently “ ?????” about wasting huge amts of finite planetary resources to fly to a conference at a resort to learn how Ancient Tibetan Knowledge can “Change the World”. Knowledge presented by someone that has never been to Tibet, Knows the language or actually read Translations of actual Tibetan Knowledge. Or lectures by an engineer at Area 51 working with the Tesla material who is unable to understand the “mysteries” of installing a water filter. Or a 70 yr old female Universal Life Minister who is an Initiated Knight Templar.
I admit I have little Interest in Useless stuff. If something REALLY can make your Life and/or the World better, great! Removing Guilt or Affirming your Poor Life Choices(in the grande scheme of things)…NO. I realize that teaching Health and Educating People isn’t as comfortable sitting in an AC-ed hall in a Hawaiian resort learning how a $30.00 DVD will Change the World simply by buying it and doing NOTHING ELSE. It does allow you however to keep doing what you’ve been doing….Guilt-Free.
