New Eyes...
Sep. 28th, 2007 06:50 amWe had a city worker knock on our front door yesterday.Nothing bad though:>. He said that as he did his route everyday, he noticed that our yard had more Butterflies than any other, in fact, he'd never seen clouds of them before. He asked permission to get some cuttings and of course I gave it...
The thing is, what's SOP in your life becomes background unless pointed out by an outside POV. Next time I was outside I noted he was right. My yard IS unusual. Clouds of Migrating Monarchs and Fitillaries laying eggs in the Passionfruit, as well as a handfull of other species. It was good to realize what you've accomplished in a few yrs. After all, when we moved onto the property 7 yrs ago it was sand, weeds and a few hardy trees and shrubs that could survive on rainfall alone. Good Organic Practice and a Positive relationship with the Landwights made a great difference but until a stranger pointed it out, I didn't notice HOW GREAT.
Troth,
Pat
