Yesterday afternoon I reached my Toleration level for the Archeological dig that is my desk(maybe I was afraid Stormy would trigger an avalanche ;>). Ah, the joys of the 3 piles:
Crap
Crap with possible uses
Useful Crap
Some of the “discoveries were “sweet”. I found material I’d written down yrs ago when I’d Meditated on each stanza of a number of Elder Edda Poems and all of the Runepoems. It’ll be Interesting how much (if at all) my views have changed over the yrs, since I’m presently on both the Havamal and Voluspa lists.
Another, however wasn’t. It was some journal “bitchins” from the 90’s. I was “whining” about all the squabbling on my BBS , newsgroups and AOL groups(this was about the time the Web was starting up I think…)….just like today but with a difference. Folks were arguing about the Nature of the Regin, the roles of the Giants in personal Spiritaulity, Laufey’s Childe Blots, how to Blot and Sumbel, raising children Heathen(or not)etc. What a difference today’s lists make…..
In my own vocabulary I have a term that I use, “Wallpaper”. When I use it(since I don’t use the real stuff;>)I mean something that superficially changes the appearance but not the nature of something. It seems to me that often we’ve moved away from discussing things of Substance to that of “Wallpaper”. Nit-picking over what really has no real substance as opposed to the healthy discourse of what Is and Is Not ____. ‘Course, no one gets too offended when we keep things superficial…right;>?
