Grumble, Grumble....

I was going to let it go but I just can’t. On one of my lists a pet peeve of mine came up, as they oft do;>. After a few responses I realized that I’m of the Minority view and stopped responding to that thread, which is a habit that I’ve tried to pick up so that I have less of a rep as being the list arse of whichever list I’m on at the time;>. The peeve is that of Respecting the God/desses. It’s Respecting ANY God/dess, not just those I Follow. I don’t like it when Christians or Newagers trivialize the God/desses of Other folks as decorations or cutsie “ tools”. I don’t like it when they do the same to MINE. That said, there are many folks in both Heathen and Pagan communities who would rather die than be Disrespectful in a Christian Church, Buddhist, Hindu or Shinto Temple, Dineh kiva, etc or to their God/desses but have no problem when that is toward theirs. In fact, you’re considered somewhat of an arse if you Think that your God/desses should be Deserving of Equal Respect. What that says about us is loud and clear. They really are cartoon characters or advert logos…not real God/desses....
This reminds me of something a CR lady said when I asked the oh so Scandinavian woman(by Name and Ancestry) why she wasn’t Heathen. She stated all she sees when she hears about the Regin is Thor comix. Personally? I’ve never met in person or heard of on-line of a Heathen that “Came Home” because of an advertizing logo, team mascot or comic book. Honestly? If I did I’d have to Wonder about the sort of person that would….
