Bible Battle....
Jan. 21st, 2008 02:29 pmThe constant battle here between CHristian Fundies and Atheists can be amusing and sometimes points actually get made. One of our local Atheists wrote a nice letter(from my POV...)pointing out that "why couldn't it had been ______" at every point that the Fundie previous of a WOnder done by Jehovah/Jesus. For every Wonder, he "plugged" a non-Christian Diety. While he was obviously playing the "they're myths so yours is too" BS, his point was nicely valid. Both an Aztec Goddess or a Viking God could have been as responsible for the Rain during the drought. That a prayer to a Hindu Goddess is just as a valid reason for a plane not to crash as one to Jesus. All lines are open;>.....
Was nice and Sunny(but COLD!) earlier and got a bit done about outside. Much killed stuff hauled to composter or curb. Even the WInter Veggies couldn't take the Temps. Even some of the turnips were squishy. Up North I always covered the beds with straw but I've never had it this bad since I started the gardens. Normally, I plant the Peas the 2nd to last Sunday of January but I may be waiting a week or two...even for those Hardy buggers. During the clean up I found under some overgrowth that the Meyer Lemon I Rescued from my SIL had produced. The only Lemon on either tree all yr and it happens buried in some Forsythia Sage. Hopefully, this bad WInter'll put "the fear of god" into the fruit trees and shrubs so we'll get a good yield this yr. We aren't zoned for "livestock"(even though the police always ignored the Vietnamese family to the West and their coops...)and you need a little Sweet with all that healthy Produce. I will try some melons this yr though.
The folks are OK. This last storm they got nailed by lightning appearently the furthest point possible from their lightning rod so they had to have a bit of rewiring done. Not a "Good Thing" this week with Electric Heat. The bedrooms and mom's bathroom were affected. She was NOT AMUSED having to use dad's shower;>.....
