Stereotypes....

Every group has stereotypes, both within and without. A couple within Heathenry I've had to "deal" with and thought I'd "share";>
There is a very Annoying stereotype that if you are Gay, you're a Freyrsman. Now, there's nothing wrong with Him. He's one of my top 5 fav Regin BUT, he is not my Patron. As soon as someone finds out that I'm Gay, they assume I'm a Freyrsman and some are actually "miffed" when I tell them I'm Closer to Redbeard. Appearantly, Gays aren't supposed to have Him...too "Butch" I guess.
Another, is that of Mental Difficulties=Seiðworker. At Ravenwood someone asked me what my pills are for and whne I mentioned that one was an anti-depressant, they asked me if I was one of those holding Seiðr later that evening. They were 'saddened' that I not only wasn´t, I wasn´t a Seiðworker.
While there are enough to make a stereotype, don´t automatically assume that a person is a certain way and esp. don´t get Pissy when they aren´t....

"Rapture" E-mail...

On one of my Progressive Blogs there was a note about a "Rapture" e-mail program. The idea is that if you aren't at your computer....you've been Raptured! This tells the computer to send a "Ha Ha, you're going to Suffer through the Tribulations you Heathen!" emails to everyone in your address book. Only those not Raptured will be able to open it because, well, the Raptured can't log in from Heaven!
