Stereotypes....

mdehnersEvery group has stereotypes, both within and without. A couple within Heathenry I've had to "deal" with and thought I'd "share";>
There is a very Annoying stereotype that if you are Gay, you're a Freyrsman. Now, there's nothing wrong with Him. He's one of my top 5 fav Regin BUT, he is not my Patron. As soon as someone finds out that I'm Gay, they assume I'm a Freyrsman and some are actually "miffed" when I tell them I'm Closer to Redbeard. Appearantly, Gays aren't supposed to have Him...too "Butch" I guess.
Another, is that of Mental Difficulties=Seiðworker. At Ravenwood someone asked me what my pills are for and whne I mentioned that one was an anti-depressant, they asked me if I was one of those holding Seiðr later that evening. They were 'saddened' that I not only wasn´t, I wasn´t a Seiðworker.
While there are enough to make a stereotype, don´t automatically assume that a person is a certain way and esp. don´t get Pissy when they aren´t....
