I Know I'm less Tolerant than I used to be. For example, the last three movies I've rented I've not watched all the way through. Appearantly, modern mores find Betrayal a Positive action and I actually find myself getting sick when it's portrayed as "Good for the ____".
I also avoid the news...mostly. My brother found out why this weekend. His wife, the consumate Progressive actually beleives (like most Progressives)that folks that disagree with her simply don't have the correct info and by providing it, they'll become just like them. The concept that the others don't consider you misinformed but intentionally choosing Wrongness is a concept they can't buy. Watching these eejits flush away any chance this election cycle manifested by placating folks that consider you, at best mislead by Satan gives me gas....
It's funny, because every time i see this it reminds me of bits from LE Modessit Jr's books. Set in the distant future, our time, genrally called "The Noram Commonacracy" was reported to have collapsed because of a Core Beleif Disconnuaty. Being a young country it gave Ethical and Spiritual Precidence to ALL other cultures while ignoring the fact that their culture WAS superior to those. After all, folks weren't Migrating or emulating to the various Homelands. By spending all their time trying to make those whose cultures who had failed the Social aspects of Darwinism Feel Good, they Doomed themselves.....
Luckly, I won't be feeding my kids in the ruins of Denv....
Cheers,
Pat

I was listening to some Big Brains recently, and they said something that both never occured to me yet made perfect sense. They were talking about Economics vs. Social Justice and pointed out that "The 60's" wouldn't have happened if the Economy hadn't been as good as it had been. They pointed out that only those who felt Safe had the Luxury to "Find/Express/etc Themselves". I certainly can relate. My Generation became adults at the end of the 60's. We grew up with our parents worrying about jobs, gas, food, the draft, etc. When we graduated, we weren't looking to "Find Ourselves", we were looking to make sure that we'd have a roof over our heads and food on the table. In a way the kids coming up right now are like us and the self-absorbed Children of the Clinton/Bush yrs like the 60's Generation, unfortunately, Compassion isn't "In" this time....
Truth,
Pat
