We've all run into these folks, they feel that their "Present Spiritual Service Provider" exempts them form the rules, laws, mores and ethics that the rest of the society has to.Oft, these "exemptions" aren't actually part of the religion, sometimes not even part of that religion's culture. It's just these pricks and prickettes figure that since they are _____, anything that they do IS part of ______'s tenets. The saddest thing is that these folks ALWAYS give their Beleif System a bad name in the world.
One will always be in my heart for shear "balls". Back in the 90's I met a woman who wass complaining about being "Oppressed" for her religion. She'd applied to be desk clerk at a high-end Hotel and while qualified, didn't get the job. The reason it was Religious Oppression because she was Wiccan and part of her religion was to shave half her skull, wear Goth makeup, have 15+ facial piercings and wear a corset. They were fine with her wearing a "tasteful" Pentacle but the rest didn't fit their corporate "style" so of course they were Bigots;>......
Every religion has "bad apples". The dumbest thing is to pretend that they don't. The next is to humour them, IMO.
Cheers,
Pat
