Voices of Experience....
Oct. 27th, 2011 12:00 pmRecently, while I was out for my AM walk I thought about my early days on my SPiritual Path and what I wouldn't have given to ask questions of those who'd been doing the same for more than a couple of yrs.
I think one of the big things I personally would tell someone in the early yrs is not to be a Drama Queen. How many of us make a big deal about our Paths just in hope for a confrontation? To "fluff" our Auras" with Rightious Indignation?
So much Energy wasted for no real reason. What i may have won was balanced out by being considered a bit of a dick. I would have told them/me to Live your Faith and stop being a Pharasee. ol' Jeshua Ben Yusef was right. Standing up and making a scene about your Faith isn't about your Faith....it's All About You. And the Holy Day "problem"? If the Rite was flexible to be put off for SCA, Renfair or a Con, it's flexible enough to request a day off for "Personal Reasons" from the boss.
Another, surprisingly is to stop trying to Teach. People have made up their minds unless something big enough shatters their Worldview. They're not going to change the Beleifs of a Lifetime with info form you, no matter how accurate(and this doesn't just apply to Christians. Even today I run into folks that actually beleive that the pre-C Celtic and Nordic Folk "really" worshiped a Lady and Lord whose True Names were NEVER that of Nordic or Celtic Deities). Be Tru to yourself and the Tivar(or Those you Follow)and not bother with the BS of others. 'Course, this is easier when Solitary. When you deal with a group there are always folks who have picked up questionable Beleifs that, unless the leader has a spine will end up tainting and confusing those without Right Knowlege and Strong Spirit. After having REPEATEDLY having to explain to newbies that what my kindred did was the leader's personal Beleif and not a historical one, I'm glad there are none near me. I Know that all I did by helping someone was Piss off others.
A big one is NOT to Beleive without backup what your group's Leader states. I look back now and shake my head at my Innocence of a Celtic Religion where there were no Celtic Names(Magickal Ones didn't count;>).REad, Read, READ!!!!!!
Another thing I'd tell them/me is not to get caught up in the whole "Renaisannce" thing. Your Faith is NOT going to sweep the JCI Faiths away....time will do that. And stop the creepy Guru crap. You're not going to be leading Rites with hundreds of _____. At least Wicca is Honest in that it considers itself a Religion made of Clergy(read Chiefs, not Indians;>). Heathenry's worse in Big Egos denied their "Just Rewards". IT'S THE GOD/DESSES STUPID!!!! Well, you and THEM. Not you and a group of folks slavishly following your Words. So many complain about Christians while in Truth they want the same thing, they just don't want to Follow YHVH and is Avatar to do it. Actually, there've been a few over the yrs that Returned to JCI and have now what they always wanted, mindless Adoration of a congregation. I just wish the Egoists would do it earlier so as not to stir ups so much during their time on our Paths....
Cheers,
Pat
