Renaisannce-foo....
Mar. 5th, 2012 12:42 pmFor the 1st time in more than 5 yrs(because the faire moved to it's present location then and we went at it's old one;>)Chuck and I went to the local Ren-Faire. Let's just say it was a lovely drive;>....
Honestly, we liked the old one better. While this one had greater participation and custom, it wasn't what we would call a Ren-faire. Considering that at least 2/3 of the players came as Pirates right out of the popular Disney franchise, I'd have called it a Pirate Festical/con. Of the 3rd, maybe half were Re-period. I saw Romans, Elves, a group of female Cosplayers dressed as their fav Anime Catgirls(I saw a Ms Nekonome from 'Rosario + Vampire'!). I will admit to LOVING the guy who did a "Sheldon" by dressing as Spock. This Renfaire had many more "Temporal Anomalies" than the one in 'BBT';>!
The vendors except for a handful were all those you see at a local street fest...including the Gyros and Thai food!
The old one, while would have pissed off my Bay Area SCA-volk friends(mixing periods, artificial fibers, etc) was a Ren-faire.
Folks get what the want....
Cheers,
Pat
