Series Recommendation, 'Shangri-La'
Aug. 1st, 2012 07:27 amThis Sci-Fi Anime might be a bit hard-going for many Adults, let alone kids due to it's heavy emphasis on Physics, Economics and Environmental Sciences...
Set about a century in a future where 'The Day After Tomorrow' goes the other direction on the thermometre, it's mostly the story of two communities living in the partially submerged ruins of Tokyo. One, built by and for the "1%" where they live as Nobility and those who didn't have skills the Rich needed and still managed to survive in another...using the sunken office towers as supports. The World now runs on the Carbon Standard where Wealth is marked by the lesser amt of Carbon Debt and war is now economic but actually more fatal...a bacnkrupt country can't even cook their food...
Complicated, Interesting and easily seen as a possible Future(if not the 2nd Carboniferous Earth then the Economics), definitely worth looking for...
Cheers,
Pat
