Religious vs. Spiritual...
Sep. 6th, 2012 07:19 amEvery time I hear this argument I want to scream, "Honey, you need to Kubler-Ross your childhood beleif-system". In very few cases are they completely separated. A religious Practice devoid of Spirituality is a habit/chore, Spirituality without a religious component is Mental Masturbation.
Unfortunately, as I allude to in my openning sentance, a lot of folks equate Religion with Christianity, forgetting the myriad other religions Humans have.
In my case, I'm a Reconstructionist Heathen. That's my RELIGION. My Ethics/Morals, Theology and Cosmology forming my world-view come from the Lore in General and the Havamal and Voluspa in Particular. My SPIRITaUL Practices include Meditation, "Seeing Dead People"(and other Wights), Runecraeft, Herbal Medicine and Magic as well as Divination(which does not always Runestaves). BOTH interact. NEITHER are separate. And most folks are NO DIFFERENT.
Cheers,
Pat
