Alfablot.....
Oct. 8th, 2012 01:00 pmor Disablot at the end of the month. I'm too Irish not to feel the pull of Samhain and not do anything around then;>. I figured it would be more appropriate to hold the Disablot(Disir are female Ancestral Beings that guard their families)on Modranacht.
Now, "Alfar" is one of those terms that encompasses many Beings. It's sorta like the Modern English "Spirit" that can mean everything from YHVH's Sexual Organ(The Holy Spirit) to the Wight in the Compost Heap. It's often translated as "Elf", which makes things worse. "Alf" covers everything from something out of Tolkien(actually two things since His Elves AND Dwarves would fit under "Alf";>)to your dead Grandpa. I tend to focus my Alfar Rite toward the male equivalent of Disir, family protectors and great male Ancestors. It's also why I also Honor my female Ancestors as well as "Official" Disir at Disablot....BALANCE.
I admit that I tend to Feel the Energy around Samhain as Female and Yule as Male so holding Rites for the opposite gendered Beings at those times seems odd but...
Cheers,
Pat
