"Lingo".....
Dec. 1st, 2013 01:48 pmEvery Way has(at least;>) one, from a dialect to a full-blown language. The sad thing is that few folks seem to grasp this simple fact and much confusion ensues.
The 1st one I was aware of was that between Mainline Protestant Christianity and Mormonism as a Teen. Both used pretty much the same Words, yet the meanings were markedly different. Take "God"(please;>!). One meant a Universal, Creative Being, the other the Mated Noncorporeal Ruler of a planet(or solar system. I could never get anyone to explain it more clearer). Yet both use the same term in the same way. Watching the last couple of elections here in the States with fundamentalist Christians and Mormons joining together as "Christians" made me smile...and not my nice one.
They also change as well. I used to be sort of Newagy back in the 80's. Today, I have NO idea what my SIL's saying. Even the in-faith jargon shifts...sort of like slang does.
Big problems manifest when folks DON'T acknowledge this. Familial ones where my SIL assumes that since my Faith is considered "Alternative", therefore it's like hers and has similar beliefs and understandings. Community ones where certain groups consider Understandings the "True" ones, no matter how those not of those groups attempt to "Educate".
In almost 4 decades of Conscious Spiritual Exploration and Work I've YET to find a Solution. The best is a kind of Answer; Patience and distance...
Cheers,
Pat
