Difference(s)....
Dec. 2nd, 2013 06:44 amI admit that I oft find the most "Inclusive" folks just the opposite. It's one of the reasons we don't interact with the local Pagan community anymore. It's also one of those why I don't to aids/hiv related activities anymore.
There's no more ALONE feeling that being around people who belittle your Faith, Your Experiences, your World View....all the while acting as if they are doing you a favor allowing you to bask in their Presence.
I grew up in a family that was usually stationed Overseas...which meant the majority of folks that spoke my language were like us. Military life is an odd combo of Progressive and Conservative. For instance, it wasn't till Dad Retired I learned that folks who Believed that your Race or Religion determined what kind of person you were. At least in the world of military families, it was how well you did your Job that was.
In a way I was lucky to "Come Out" pre-aids/hiv because there wasn't a big focus on Politics. Those that had their world-view formed DURING the Plague Yrs DID. For those of us that were Fiscally Conservative but Socially Liberal, we found ourselves unwelcome pretty much EVERYWHERE. I was luckier than many of my compatriots; my Personality is such that if you Attack ME and Mine...I consider you an ENEMY. I my agree with you a lot on much but by doing this you seal your Fate in my life. I don't Nurse a Grudge...I send it to Grad school;>!
On the Lefty side, my Beliefs Spiritual oft conflicted with theirs(at least I thought so. I was oft reminded how WRONG I was/am). That I gave Oaths seldom and those I did keeping them, even when changing Ways I stayed "Tru" to that Pantheon and it's Rules instead of doing what was "convenient".
I also, relating to my previous post learned that the same Word(s) were not heard the same between me and Others. It wasn't until my late 30's/early 40's that I stopped attempting to get Outsiders to "hear" what I was "saying". Perhaps if I'd done it earlier, I wouldn't have needed BP meds;>!
In a lot of ways "dealing" with the Exclusivists is easier. As far as they're concerned, you aren't "Their Kind"...PERIOD. Inclusivists INSIST that what you Believe or Are is REALLY the same as them, you just need to be "Educated". The concept of being Wrong(even for others, no matter how hard "lip service" they pay to "Diversity") NEVER is considered.
So, today most of my Interactions Metaphysically are online. And that's OK.
