Stuff.....
Feb. 14th, 2008 01:02 pmWhile I'm hurting today, it was worth it. I got all the ductwork and vents, includingthe intake cleaned for the furnace. Oh, for the days when someone would come and do it for me. 'Course, they wouldn't have done such a thorough job as I did;>....
Just in time too, with another front bringing Icey weather. Not too bad though, only Freezing. It's when it gets below 18F that I worry. I only had to cover some "iffy" Begonias(they're hardy in our zone but since I grew them from seed from a gene bank....).I may end up with material to make my own Umiboshi. The Snow Peach couldn't take the Warmer WInters we've had the last decade and died but that which it was grafted on didn't. Nice blossoms and scent. The grafting material is close to the species used in Japan to make "plum" wine and the ubiquitous Umiboshi. I'll have to try some if I get any fruiting this yr. The daffodils and snowbells are blooming but thankfully the recent warm weather didn't trick the apple or quince into blooming. I'd like to have more than one or two snacks from them for a change. The quince is a Turkish variety that can be eaten raw. Tastes a bit like a hard apple with lemon.
Chuck got his Valentine's Day present today. Actually, I'd ordered a couple yellow rosebushes and they just happened to arrive today. Yellow Roses are his fav flower...
