Well, I've had it for a while but hadn't actually realised it until reading one of the messages in my In-box.
There is a large group of folks on-line that will argue with you about a general point by finding any example of the opposite' usually a personal example. Teen pregnancy Bad? They'll find a teen mom that's had tons of luck and farts roses. Adults having sex with teens? They'll find a "happy couple", etc....
A single or personal example the opposite of a person's general point is not, contrary to on-line "pop" belief a refutation of that point. It's simply an example. A statement about high crime rates in a particular city are not refuted by saying that you live there and have never been Raped. All that means is that you haven't. Nothing more. Comments about drug-using parents and children having problems in school is not refuted by saying your kid is doing well being homeschooled and you smoke Weed daily, or use Oxycontins.
If you're going to argue, argue the points with evidence. If the reason you're actually argueing is that you just like argueing....BUGGER OFF!
