Movie Review....

mdehnersRomero's 'Diary of the Dead'. Must really suck that your best work came as a college project more than three decades ago and each time you do worse. No wonder the strung-out chainsmoking hippy's so unhappy....
The straight to DVD's a good clue. IMO there are two main problems with it(and a bunch of little ones;>). The 1st isn't to folks under 30 who grew up with 'Doom' and 1st Person SHooter games but forthe rest of us the'Blair Witch' style camera footage is annoying. The othe is the lack of Logic. I Know, we're talking about a Zombie flick but for a Horror movie to work, consistancy and "Beleiveability" are necessary. At least it didn't have the Bionic Ninja Zombies of the 'Day of the Dead' and a couple others. Unlike the Original, which had the reason for so many Zombies attacking a rural house being that it was next to a graveyard, the hordes of suburban ZOmbies, esp in AMISH COUNTRY was a bit silly. Also, as shocking as it may be to some I'm not that big of a Pessimist of Humanity as Romero who's far Left and anti-tech Beleifs get a bit silly with Gov't conspiriacies(a global one incompassing ALL the Web. Has he even Logged ON!?!)and that folks are so addicted to video that they would stay in a room full of Dead and potential ZOmbies to recharge their batteries or film a friend being attacked yet not do anything but film?
'Course, having the Gay guy go take a bubble bath in a house where the owner is acting weird after having half their friends eaten was a bit Insulting as well;>
Since being a chainsmoking Alcoholic isn't Working for him, maybe Romero needs to do a bit of Detox. He might then bring his work up to the level of maybe the SciFi CHannel;>....
