Now...or Later?

As I'm planning for the future Plantings on the property, I have to "deal" with a question:"Should I plant for NOW, or For the FUTURE?". Sounds easy, until you add in Global Warming. Sure, I have friends that don't Beleive in such things but I have friends who think the Moon landing was faked. They also don't live in an area that's in flux Ecologically. An example is the Ag Dept's climate maps for my area. Still, we are listed as zone 8 and a 600+ Chill hr, though 9 out of 10 of the last yrs we've been z9 with a Chill hr <500. If you plant for z8, chances are that long-term your Harvests will be small and the plants disease-ridden. Yet, If you plant for z9, every few yrs you are going to have severe Freeze damage. Chances are though that in another couple of yrs it'll be stable at z9 with an occassional z10 yr....
