Our Own Worst Enemies....

Once opon a time, I was sitting with others around a fire on a Saturday AM, having my AM cuppa. We were joined by one of the other Gay guys at the moot. He sat down, made a number of comments that, IMO would have been Inappropriate at a Brunch at a Gay bar and left. When he did, pretty much all the guys made anti-Gay comments. I pointed out that most Gays weren't like him, even the ones here and "Outed" myself(I didn't the other 4 guys, though why they hadn't figured out that two guys sharing a tent...). No one had a problem with me or anyone else other than "Mr Frisky" that moot or others I'd been at....
The point I'm making is that when you aren't the Majority in a group, you're basically the guest and need to act as a proper one to make a good impression. Unfortunately, it takes a lot of "boring" Good Behavior to counteract the Impression one spectacular Asshole makes. A lot of us, no matter WHAT we are enjoy "Freaking The Mundanes", though this never makes friends, just reinforces Negative Stereotypes. One of the last Pagan gatherings I went to shared the campground with a Christian Youth Ministry. As you can guess, they left having all their Negative stereotypes not only reinforced but increased. I think a lot of problems could be stemmed simply by counting to 10 before allowing an "Impulse" to fuck things up for yrs to come...
