Early Yule!
Nov. 9th, 2008 06:47 amI'd ordered some fruit trees for the property as a present to myself(it's amazing how much you can end up saving when you don't smoke or drink anymore;>)and they arrived yesterday. Scared the crap literally out of Stormy since they arrived at 1830. I didn't Know UPS delivered that late!
Enclosed were two Heirloom trees; 'Roddenberry', a Snow Peach actually found on an abandoned farm 5 counties East of me(now that's regionally Adapted!) and 'Budd's Blood', the only Florida Blood Orange cultivar to my knowlege. The other was a self-fertile Asian Pear, 'Shinseki'.
I'll plant the Peach and PEar after dropping Chuck off at work at 0730 and repot the Orange and move it into the greenhouse for Winter. This means the Guava gets to get planted out earlier than planned. I know the younger ones come back from their roots every yr but being more Mature, this one may survive wher the juvies didn't. Besides, I like Blood Oranges a heckovalot more than at least this seed grown Guava;>!
Cheers,
Pat
