I got a call last night from our aids's org MHW. Her kid was sick and so she was cancelling today's group meeting. She started in on a project she wanted. I broke in to tell her that I was thinking of leaving the group. I told her what I've written here; that I don't have the same Issues or Interests as someone recently Diagnosed. I've long gone through my Kubler Ross Staging and Accept what IS and work with THAT. That all I'm Interested in a group is a place to Vent and Brainstorm, not a Therapy session. Then she said the DUMBEST thing someone who's Known me for yrs and what I've done in my Life. She said,"It's about Giving back."

THIS to a guy that before he was DIAGNOSED was one of 5 guys who went to our local Health Dept with a proposal for adding Safe Sex councelling at the sites where they were doing Blood draws for other STD's?!? 'Course, they turned us down and two yrs later used our Proposal as a template to start their own. SOmeone who's played "activette" on this subject for more than two decades!?!!?
Needless to say, we won't be going back. It smacked of the same BS from San Francisco where the Politos were trying to get more Gays in Drug trials because Blacks and Latinos weren't "stepping up to the plate" as their numbers increased in the epidemic. Sorry. Dbl Standard time again.....
