Nov. 13th, 2008 08:50 amBeen a busy couple of days. Got another Asian Pear in(Hosui, to go with my Shinseki. Now I have both Yellow and Russett ASian forms!)as well as planting out the Red Guava. It's no loss if it doesn't survive the WInter but considering it's siblings planted out last Fall came back from the roots, with Maturity and a little Protection....
Got the Creole Red Garlic in. The Polish Whites were planted a couple weeks ago and are already breaking out. The Baby Bok Chois are almost ready to begin Harvesting. Sadly, the Sweet Potatoes don't look so good. I dug a test tuber from each type and all are small but Harvestable. I'll keep them in the ground till the next Cold Snap hoping they put on a bit more heft. The Cuttings I took of the Japanese and Purple Sweets as a precaution during our earlier Freeze have Rooted well so I have backups for next yr....no waiting for some "Yankee" company to mail me slips 3 months after proper planting time;>!
Tryingto decide whether to plant a borderline Hardy Orange(Cara Cara) or a Borderline Chill hr Apricot. The thing with the Orange is that with Global Warmng, each yr is in it's Favor, while the Oppposite is true for the Apricot. Thing is, I like fresh Apricots;>....
Cheers,
Pat
