Notes from the "Homosphere"....

mdehnersOne of the things being discussed in the "Homosphere"(other than the Shock of the Fluff-bunnies discovering that Blacks aren't super-Evolved SPiritual Beings they thoughtthey were;>....)was the lack of Energy or Interest in the alt-rel communites over the Anti-GLBT legislation. Some count Heathenry's more Conservative Outlook for Ours, but I think the reason for Ours AND the Pagan Community is both more Simple and More Profound...the status of Marriage in our communities. It's pretty low. ALL my Het Heathen and Pagan "Hardcopy" friends who are married were so in their previous religion(Christianity) or Common Law and have never had a HEathen or Pagan ceremony. The two other couples that were MArried Heathen-Style in my old Kindred were simply getting their Christian Vows "Upgraded to their new service provider".
When the Hets getting Married in your religion are mainly doing it as a reaction to their previous one, that's not a Good Thing. And when it is, it's usually something with some easy "escape-clause" so if ANY difficulty comes up, even when their are kids involved, they can go their separate ways without trying to Resolve problems....
Now, I'm not calling for some sort of Draconian Oathbinding in our communities, but as in the general community, it's not the GLBT-folk that has such a low opinion of Marriage...just the Opposite. I guess it's SItuation Normal...those that HAVE don't Value what they have, even if they'e not using it until someone asks them to Share...
