The Hammer and the Pentacle?
Nov. 25th, 2008 08:11 amWhile dated, a good article on Pagan/Heathen Interaction. The reason I bring it up was that I was listening to a Het male friend talk almost IDENTICALLY about Het females as a Heathen would about Pagans. Truth is, there are a lot of similarities between the way Het Males and Heathens Communicate, and the same for Pagans and Het Females. A BIG difference however is that Heathens and Pagans don't have to Interact, Hets DO;>!
As a Gay guy whose worked in mostly FEmale-Dominated businesses, I've learned the "language". I've oft had to "translate" for my Het male friends what their wives and girlfriends meant, since what they said made no sense male-wise. I think the biggest complaint I hear is that Het women don't say what they mean, they want you to figure out WHAT they mean. To most guys, Het and Homo, that triggers the "Competition" button(s). It's now a game/contest and that means there is to be a Winner and a Loser.
Another is that most guys are either "ON" or "OFF", there is no "IDLE". If we're Relaxing, we're doing just that. No Grande Plans being made, no lists, no Great Questions. So, we mean it when we answer "Nothing" to "What are you Thinking?". You see....WE CAN. The sadly funny thing I found out back in my college days was that men were better than women at Meditations that involved clearing the Mind. It was the Parking our Butts that was the hard part, the exact opposite of the female classmates(BTW, I was a Hatha Yoga TA is school...).
Now, personally I don't think it's Genetic, at least on the female side. Women who grow up in male-dominated families like my Mom's(only daughter, 6 boys...)seldom have these problems with Het men. Their problems are usually with other Het women. Another Personally, I think there's little Interest Het female wise in "fixing" the "problem". They don't see it AS one. They usually see it as the Het man's fault for not Understanding her and them.
Truth,
Pat
