Cops...

Back in my Wiccan/Pagan days, I was an Outsider. I Respected Law Enforcement personnel. I Understood why most(well, all of those I knew) had a "problem" with them(as well as Military folks). They all had some Invovlement with Illegal substances or Activities. AS was always pointed out to me, I was "too Straight"(not in the Orientation Way, though some of the Faeries;>). What was Odd to me at 1st was that many Heathens had little difference of Opinion. I realised my Mindset set me up for this. A lot of Heathens come as well from the Counter-Cultures of both L and R...both who don't Beleive that Laws for the general public apply to them. What bothered me though was that often I found Heathens being more Resectful towards Cons than Law Enforcement personnel. In fact, I'd heard a number of Heathen cops(both M and F, Het and Homo)say that they've learned not to bring up what they do when meeting new Heathens as so not to be Rejected out of hand.
Some might be a leftover of the Romance many, esp. Guy Heathens with the Vikings and their Outlaw image(no matter what the Lore says about such Behavior). Some because they equate Cops with Christians for some reason(which always was weird to me since all the cops I've known over the yrs are the least "churchy"). Maybe it's the Heathen equivalent of the Christian "Get". Converting a Criminal away from Christianity or Islam is more "Kuwell" than the Law Abiding and Supporting Heathen or HEathen-leaning.
As Usual, I don't Understand folks....
