One of the Personal things I Learned is that I was Wrong all my Life thinking I was an "Average Joe". I'm not. I'm Exceptional:>!
Truth is, in my day your folks taught you that you're just like everyone else, so you tend to beleive you are average. Now, this has good points. For one thing, you tend not to be as big of an Arse as those who were told by their folks that they were "Special":>. A Neutral Thing is that you assume that your Abilities are Average, that is that the Average person can do that which you can do. THAT'S the Lesson I learned this yr. Average folks CAN'T do as well as I have under my "Life Lessons"....which is actually kind of nice on a Personal Level. It's rather easy to check this since I've Buried a lot of folks who've only had a single of my "Lessons". So, it took a half century to catch on...I'm a Natural Blonde;>!
Oddly enough, it makes be a bit less Judgemental(just a bit...let's not get carried away;>). After all, my biggest Pet Peeves with folks has/is their inability to "get" what seems to me a pretty simple "stuff". I mean, to me there is no reason to repeat stuff that hasn't WOrked in the Past, yet I have a lot of friends and aquaitences that spend a large portion of thier Lives "chewing old soup". I still don't "Get It" but I no longer attempt to think that they're doing it on purpose to enjoy the Emotional Drama(well, in most cases;>). They literally DON'T Get It....
In some ways the "Gay Thing" has helped. After all, you don't get "squat" in Help from family, friends or society so you Learn to deal with stuff on your own. Those that don't? Well, the Suicide stats are pretty clear and along personal experiences. Social Darwinism's a Bitch...but it is effective. You also Learn what's Important and what Isn't....something Het Pagans and Heathens could learn from their non-Het co-religionists. It's usually not us that put their Gaming, SCA, REnfair, etc stuff ahead of Circle or Blot. I guess if you feel you have plenty of Time, you don't Feel the need to Prioritise. If you DON'T.....
Of course, my Other Tribe has it's drawbacks. After all, a Middleaged 5'11'' Het guy with a 40 inch waist isn't considered Obese, while;>.......
