Word Games...

mdehnersIt was one of Lewis Carrol's characters that said something like, "Words mean just what I wish them to, no more or less".Unfortunately, most of us require a word to have the same basic Meaning for meaningful Communication to happen. That's one of the reasons that I'm not only "Pro-Label" I generally beleive the Labelled have the right to define themselves. Generally, because there are always arseholes.
One, that I'm having fun with is Fundies discovering what their Teachers knew, that their Mormon Allies are Mormon...not Christian. Any Heathen would Understand the stupidity of a statement like, "They have to be HEathen...it's in their Name!?!". Unfortunately, Fundies, under their Crush Everyone Else only saw the Word and nice White "Ozzie and Harreit" types and thought....
Mormons aren't Christian, if you Beleive that the Theology,Holy Books and Doctrine of a Religion are Very Important. If you Beleive that having the term "Christian" in your Name does, then they are;>!One of my biggest snickers was listening to a AOG and Mormon "rag" on the JW's. The Assembies of God guy not realising that his beleifs are more more in line with the JW that the Spacegods Pantheism Theology of the LDS church. 'Course, if your Beleifs ARE SUperficial, it's easy to see the "One-ness"....a lesson that more should "get"...
