I guess I shouldn't be surprised. After all, there's a fair number of Hets that don't Beleive Gay folks fall in Love, just Fuck. But listening to the surprise in many's voices that Sigfried of 'Sigfried and Roy' had felt alone, isolated and depressed after his Partner of DECADES was so badly injured that he was clinically dead 3 times really pointed out to me how poorly we're viewed, even by "Enlightened" folks. Funny. a single person dies in a school of 3000 and it's Accepted that those who never met the person will need "Grief Councillors" but a Gay couple together longer than most Het Marriages experiences a horrific act while they are together is Depressed....is surprising!?!
My own experiences should make me less surprised. When Ric died, coworkers who knew us and had gone out with us WITH their boy and girlfriends were surprised when I asked for time off(an afternoon) to go to his funeral....
