The End Is Near. It's been quite a week. Docs:Head, Eyes, General. Installing a new Lightning Rod and having to take the car down to the garage(If Dad EVER complains about my car's "hygene" again, I'll remind him about his truck;>). Continuing to take Cuttings of Rooted Cuttings of the only survivor of the Purple Sweet Potato(heck the ONLY Sweet Survivor period...)so that I'll have enough to plant out in a couple weeks. The Ornamental Corn is sprouting, most kewwl(It's a Victorian Plant originally from Japan. A Grinding Corn that produces leaves striped with Pink, White and Red). Kinda hard to find unless you're a major plant nerd like me;>. Given in to my baser instincts and allowed a couple fruits on each of the new Citrus trees I planted, just so I can have a taste. After all, I may not be around when they come into their own;>!
New leaves on all the Bananas and the SH2340 that died has sprouted Pups from it's roots so it may not be a total loss. No way fruit this yr but perhaps next. Really liking the look of the Dwarf Namwa. It's supposed to bear here but it's chunky form is quite attractive. I think it'd be a good Ornamental even in areas where it won't Mature to Fruiting.
I think my Antique Apple(Yellow Bellflower, from Mt Vernon)has finally given in to Global Warming. Even with this WInter being colder than it has been the last couple, I don't think it got enough Chill Hrs. It's still bare. We'd always been at the S. Range for most Apples but nowadays even the "Tropical" ones have problems because of the unstable Winter Temps. On the Positive, there're Blossoms on the Quince and Pomegranite...
Cheers,
Pat
