Sad, just Sad...
Apr. 30th, 2009 01:40 pmI watch all the "hub-bub" over the Swine Flu and shake my head. Not that it isn't dangerous, just that like so many other diseases for those growing up in the Age of Antibiotics in the 1st World we've forgotten the basics of disease prevention. Think back to Mom or Grandma when you were a little kid. If you had decent ones, they'd had you Washing your hands at least from building to building, if not person to person. Covering your mouth when you cough. I'm old enough to remember when folk cleaned phones!
How many wash your hands before eating....ANYWHERE? After the Restroom? How often are your home's handles(knobs, latches ,pulls) cleaned? Both Out and In? Sanitizer is a good idea to keep in a car because the sort of errands you do IN a car means you have mult sources to pick up stuff. Chuck knows the 1st thing he does when he gets in the car is use one because he's been exposed to people all day and helping them with their carts...which have been both handled AND spilled on(both food and feces from rug-rats).
Most is rather easy...break the chain of Infection of ANYTHING. WHile stuff can still happen, you take care of probably 75-80% of your contact by simply remembering to never touch a moist part of your anatomy, Eyes,Ears, Mouth, etc;> before Washing them with plain old soap and water....
Truth,
Pat
