I DO like where my desk is set up. On good days I can leave the front door open and look out Eastward over the property. There's always something Growing or Going on. It's fun to watche the juvie Cardinal Males squabble like, well Teen boys over their "Pecking Order" on the Arch over the path to the mailbox. Right now a few blossoms of of a White Old Rose give a nice contrast the the not-quite red of the Juvies. Later in the yr the Clematis on the same structure will Bloom the Purple and Pink adding a nice contrast to thier darkening Plumage.
The Old Man's Beard is done for the yr. Can't think of a better tree for a Heathen to grow in their yard, with it's trailing clouds of White flowers. Thing of Wisteria made of Mist....
The Mt Vernon Apple(Colonial Bellflower) is finally succumed to Global Warming. The Quince has potential for a few fruits as does the Pomegranite but all the Snow Peach's dropped, which IS a Good Thing since it was planted last Fall and shouldn't bear the 1st couple of yrs anyway.
The Indigos, real and False are blooming with Pink and Blue Pea-like blossoms respectively. A project, like the Woad from a few yrs back that while also a failure dye-wise, the plants were perfectly happy to grow and thrive. The Crinums are in full Flower, which fills the air with Honeysuckle-like scent. 'Course, this yr with my SInuses;>. Bizarre Olde Southern Plants. Think of an onion the size of a volleyball barely stuck in the ground producing Trumpets of White, Pink and Rose, with various combos thereof. If there was a plant that to me said "Olde South" it'd be this one, usually the 1st non-food plant a bride took to her new home....
I miss the Woodpeckers since the Holly snag blew down(not during the hurricanes oddly enough;>), they are such clowns and enjoy teasing both Boo-Boo and Stormy. Maybe with the Lotus pots I'll get a Crane, like the Folks do ever so often!
Cheers,
Pat
