May. 19th, 2009 07:09 amWatching the AM shows listening to what I think of as Stupid City Folk. The Gas Tax. Folks who have Public Transport available think this is a great idea. Those of us who live in the majority of the US don't. Small cities, towns and villages in the USA will NEVER be Public TRansport capable...the country is simply too big. EEjits that point out how ENgland or Germany can need to remember how small in size they are in comparison. Heck, there are counties in the States the size of England!
Sure, we could abandon all urban centers less than 150,000 but we won't. And for all the "Greenies"? All those small Organic farms would be GONE. Only a big Ag company could afford to ship it's workers outside of a lightrail and bus hub and to ship the products IN. Then again, a country where everyone lives in cities and the countryside has been converted to efficient mechanical processing probably would have cleaner air and water...
