One of the most ANNOYING discussions, whether in the Het or GLBT communities is the Christianity or Atheism BS. For all my life, I here that is the CHOICE, either Accept Chritianithy or Accept Atheism. As if ALL the myriad forms of Human Spiritual Experiences are non-starters.
I guess I was lucky. Being raised by parents that Beleived that all Churches were True and therefore we went to the one most Dominant to where we we stationed exposed me to so many "1 Tru"s that even as a kid I realised that they were either both or neither. Add in the Greek and Roman ruins of Europe and the middle East and it was easy for me to figure out that They all Existed and "1god" was realistic as "1cereal"(what can I say, I was 10;>).
Still, it does get old that even in a country where not only Wicca and paganism is in Pop culture but you have in most cities Hindu, Buddhist(yes, I know it's not technically polytheistic) and Shinto that folks go for the old Binary argument.

Cheers,
Pat

Yeah. I'll keep this to 2 comments.

(1) Believe in =/= worship. I believe in Jesus. I even believe in the virgin birth and the resurrection. I just hate him with a passion. And think the less of anyone who likes him. The guy was scum, the god he is an aspect of is scum, I would loathe him/them even without the blood injury they have done to us. Don't call me an unbeliever or ask me if I "believe in God." Smallminded, bigoted death-cults and their filthy, disgusting genital-obsessed god, gahhh.

(2) I am fed up to the back teeth with the way adherents of other religions suck up to and even adopt Xianity (Koreans, I'm looking at you) as if it's part of immigrating to America. If they would have some spine we might have half a chance of getting that 1950s addition to the Pledge of Allegiance removed, but they defend that BS. And go on to support Prop. 8 because the churches tell them to . . . I can't talk freely to "Bharat" any more because he conflates the Xian god with Brahman. That's contrary to Truth. I've been tempted to cite the relevant passages of the Bhagavad Gita but I don't do that stuff any more and he probably doesn't care. Hypocrite. It's pure and simple hypocrisy. "I will claim to still be of another religion but I'll actually go along with Xianity and say they are the same really" is treachery. They are not all the same.

Unfortunately, I think most Americans really think there's only either/or. You're either xian or you're an athiest. The fact that you may believe in a different god(s) just doesn't compute.
