Happy Pappa!
Oct. 16th, 2009 07:58 amMade my Dad's day. 1st, I allowed him to workon my electric water heater. Personally, I was hoping we could get it replaced(it's over a decade old and not that energy efficient)but he came and replaced the old elements. He was very pleased that i'd remembered stuff he'd taught me back in my college days about routine maintenence of appliances. After all, not that many folks fluch their waterheaters at all, let alone every yr.
Also, the last storm we had blew the DVD player. Last time he'd found that the same model had simply blown it's internal fuse and he both replaced it and had left instructions how to fix it if it happened again. He was pleased as punch that his instructions worked.
When he retired from the Army he became a handiman and while I don't come withing miles of his abilities, what he was able to teach me about justthe basics usually had me as the "Go-To" guy in most appt bldings I lived in when you couldn't get the Super(or didn't wish to Pay them to do their jobs....
Truth,
Pat
