Recently(well, today),a Het commented on one of my groups about the 'Chik-Fil-A' brouhaha, "Homosexuals should stop taking this personally". True and African Americans a couple of decades ago should have done the same with, "Whites Only" businesses.
But "that's different!" they say. After all, "it's impossible for (most) Blacks to "pass" as White. Homosexuals can.". This is true. We can pretend to be Het. We can even ruin the hopes and dreams of some Hets by doing so with the Ultimate Cover, marrying one of them and having kids. Sacrificing those Hets lives are a small thing, Right? so that you can "Fit In" and the Sensitive Het won't be worried someone thinks of them the way they think of their Prefered Sexual Partner(s).....
Cheers,
Pat(who Beleives Individuals should NOT support those who hurt EVEN through willful Ignorance...)

That's the kind of remark that makes me think the term "privilege" has its place after all. As if it could be anything but personal ... including the underlying assumption of "of course you're evil".

...HOMOSEXUALS SHOULD STOP TAKING THIS PERSONALLY...?????!!! I do not technically define myself a homosexual or heterosexual, but **I*** take it personally when a big company uses its money or the serious money of the owners, to support ANTI-RIGHTS GROUPS OF ANY SORT...one of my dear friend sis gay and STILL in great misery and shame in hismid-60s, even with a loving partner, due to the unkindness of people in his small town in the UK, where even his so-called 'friends' think it's okay to fling in his face that he's gay, as if it were a bad thing...it's terrible and makes him so miserable and crying, even at his age, even being a tough strong working man...nobody should have to suffer such unkind ignorance, no matter what, and for some prominent company to support *or appear to support* such cruel ignorance only hurts society...

The poor baby. How could anyone care about anything that doesn't matter to him/her, what with him/her being the center of the universe and all?

If there'd been a Chik-fil-a anywhere near me, I'd have been sorely tempted to show up for the kiss-in. I'd have had to find a person-of-the-same sex to be indignant with, though ;-)

But perhaps I just have a thing about people who attempt to enforce (they'd say "promote") the "values" of their religion.
