It's funny. In my 20's I couldn't Understand "why are old people so Intolerant?". Now that I AM one;>.....
A good example was about an hr ago. I'm dropping off books at the library and making the usual path through all the street people there. Well, they're ANGRY. Why? because the closest selter, which is run by Fundies has instituted manditory Bathing(I couldn't figure if this was just upon 1st admission or..). They were VERY ANGRY about being made to Bathe.
My Younger Self probably would have been upset but my Present Self can't Understand the problem. Someone is offering you Guesting. As a Guest you have Obligations to the Host. Even in Charity there ain't no free lunch.
Funny thing. I'd have been more upset about being forced to sit through a two hr Christian service than made to simply take a shower....

'Course, all those yrs living in "The City" pretty much got rid of any romanicism about Street People anyway....

Maybe they are worried about their stuff being stolen while in the shower, and who likes putting dirty clothes on a clean bod?

Then they can stay out on the streets. When someone offers you Hospitality,you have Responsibilities. Otherwise, don't Accept it. Sadly, it's not just the Street population. A big reason we no longer offer our home to those visiting the area. Apparently, the modern translation of Guest is Mooch...
