DVD Recommendation: 'Extinction'.....

mdehnersThis low-budget Indie flick is one of the better EOTWAWKI-Zombie? movies out in the last couple of yrs. Interesting characters, decent Acting(part problem might be that much of the cast is French, speaking English;>)and an interesting "twist" on the '28 days Later'-type flick...
Our world takes less than a week to end. Most just die. An extreme Minority is naturally Immune and a small portion of the population's Immune systems can fight the Infection...NOT to a pleasant conclusion. A "viral scalpel" used in transferring genes to make GMO foods(both plants and animals) has both escaped AND mutated, making it's "off-switch" ineffective. An interesting bit of directing and producing is that they make sure no animals or birds are in any of the scenes. Having foreign genes spliced randomly(the virus apparently had been free for a while, the damage to animals reaching terminal to most approx. the day before the movie starts)kills most. The one's that can fight it are mutated into a number of violent Cannibals:
Walkers-classic Zombie types, though being alive can be killed in the standard regions;>
Runners-Modern Fast Zombie types. both this and the above are comatose at night.
No Name given-These are discovered near the end of the flick. They prey on the other two as well as the Immune. Human speed, Dog-smart.
Worth grabbing if you run into it. My fav character is a Prepper who's been basically running around in a Hazmat suit since Y2K. A cheerful, chirpy character because he's been proved RIGHT;>!
