Chuck and I've been talking and we decided that after his b-day in November we'll get a couple of kittens. We've always had dogs(I'd cats before we met)AND we've always Rescued. So one of the reasons we decided on kittens was that we'd like for change to have pets that(at least at the start;>) had less "issues" than we do;>!
We've checked out the local Rescues and the Cat-Exclusive one priced itself out of our reach. $300.00 for two kittens!?!? Sure, it includes Spaying and Vaccines but these Eejits are competing with a mixed Rescue that charges $150.00 for the same and the papers which are full of folks offing "Free to a Good Home". The sad thing is that SOCKS(the cat shelter) is more expensive than the local Petsmart....which probably uses kitten and puppy mills.
Cheers,
Pat

Date: 2013-09-24 04:42 am (UTC)The local petstores here and in NYC have weekly adoption days ... I guess because there are anti-puppymill laws in Cal. and NY. Shame on them all. ... You do realize that people who post that they are looking to rescue kittens sometimes get a basket left on the doorstep.
