Jun. 19th, 2014 06:29 amWhat's interesting is not that this series is good, it is that it comes from Bandai which is better known for the sort of thing pre-adolescent boys like;>...
Set in a Binary Solar System, the two sides of a People that are born Hermaphrodites are at war. One, an Industrial people(very Steampunk) who've poisoned their lands to the point they where gas masks outside are invading the other, an Agricultural Theocracy whose only technology is dug up from the ruins of a previous civilization. These are radial engines that provide Inertialess Drive to allow aircraft, rail and bus/trucklike transport and a sphere that when "joined" by two pre adolescents allows energy for shields and other weaponry. Another big difference is that the Steampunk folk surgically alter their infants sexually, depending on Need and the Theocrats at 17 enter holy springs which take their preferences into account and their Sex changes gradually to M of F. Needless to say, with the exception of the Elderly, everyone's a bit Androgynous;>....
Interesting Theological, Ethical and Gender issues explored.
Cheers,
Pat
